stuff you need to know...
Do you do any discounts or special offers? From time to time I might have specific offers on the site, but as standard I offer a 10% discount to customers who buy again within a year of their initial purchase, and a 10% discount if customers refer a friend who then makes a purchase. The referred friend just needs to let me know, either through the contact form or through the notes on the checkout page, who referred them. The referring customer then gets the discount applied to their next purchase. Hope that makes sense!!
How do I commission a piece of jewellery?
It's very simple. Drop me an email or give me a call and we can discuss your personal requirements. This starts the process off to produce a beautiful piece of bespoke jewellery. We'll work out some designs and either email or send them to you with the prices - for free. Then, if you decide you would like us to make a piece for you - tell us your design choice and send a 50% deposit. Lead times do depend on the complexity of the design required and the avaiability of the materials needed; it will typically take an absolute MINIMUM of two weeks, and usually more like four weeks from start to finish.
What type of materials do you use?
I use sterling silver which is bought in sheet and wire form and then transformed in the workshop into beautiful, unique pieces. I also use textiles, semi-precious beads, pearls, glass beads, clay and the occasional piece of PMC (Precious Metal Clay) which is pure silver once it's fired. Every item is fully described and it will always be stated which materials were used in a particular piece. I NEVER use silver plate, and I NEVER use plastic beads.
Where do you make your jewellery?
All my jewellery is handmade by yours truly and no-one else in my studio in Derby's Banks Mill.
What if an item doesn't fit?
All sizes will be stated in the description (this is in progress, if the details aren't there yet and you need to know, give me a shout) - I'll resize once for free. You pay nominal postage charges. If anything needs to be made longer/larger I'll charge a small amount for the silver where applicable and the nominal postage but any charges will be agreed before work is carried out. The best thing to do is to check sizes before buying and get alterations made prior to shipping. That way there is no additional postage and the same free services as listed above are provided.
When will I receive my jewellery?
95% of the time what you see is what you get at beaushambles - most of the images on the site are not illustrations, they're the actual piece. For pieces that are made in small batches, the image is typical of what you'll receive (like the roses for instance, as each rose is handmade, pieces may vary very slightly to what you see on screen). So, once you've bought something, in most cases it's available to post to you on the next working day after payment's received - if there's likely to be a small delay, i.e. if I need to make one to order, I'll let you know straight away. For cheques despatch will be delayed until funds are cleared - this may be up to 5 working days from receipt of your cheque. I post all items either by First Class Recorded or Special Delivery (see below) so your jewellery should be with you within 2 working days, but please allow an extra day for the vagaries of the Royal Mail before getting in touch.
What can I do if the piece I like has been sold?
If you've seen something you like on the site and it's been sold before you could get your hands on it, I'm happy to make another to order. Drop me a line through the contact page or email, and we can take it from there.
How can I pay, and is it secure?
PayPal is my preferred method, and all my jewellery is available through PayPal on the site - you don't even need to have a PayPal account set up anymore. I can also accept payment by cheque, but please allow for fund to clear before your jewellery can be sent to you. PayPal is a world recognised payment system which allows for payment to be transferred while keeping card details separate. I'll never be privy to any customer's card details, they remain secure with a world renowned money transfer company. Payment is VERY secure.
How much will postage usually cost?
Any orders under £25.00 will be posted First Class with Recorded Delivery at a flat rate of £3.00 per parcel.
Orders between £25 and £75 will be shipped by Special Delivery and charged £4.00 per parcel.
Orders over £75 are free of P&P charges.
All deliveries will need to be signed for. All items are nicely packaged and ready to give as a gift or to coo with delight locked in a room on your own!
Do you ship internationally?
I'm happy to send things internationally - all items are dispatched by Royal Mail Airsure (delivery aim 3-5 working days). Delivery charges will be confirmed before dispatch.
What is the returns policy?
All items can be returned - in recieved condition and with original packaging - within 30 days. All items are digitally photographed before they leave so any damage done in transit or prior to return can be noted; this provides peace of mind for clients. Any items damaged in transit must be returned within 21 days for a full refund. Refunds will be made by the same terms as payment was made.
